A BILL to amend article six, chapter twenty-nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section twenty-seven, relating to mandating that the state personnel board shall not require one to take a civil service examination if the applicant has at least a bachelor's degree in the same field as the position that he or she is applying for.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article six, chapter twenty-nine of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section twenty-seven, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 6. CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION.

§29-6-27. Exam not required.
The state personnel board shall not require one to take a civil service examination if the applicant has at least a bachelor's degree in the same field as the position that he or she is applying for.

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prevent the state personnel board from requiring that those seeking employment in civil service positions take the civil service examination if one has a bachelor's degree or better in the field that he or she is seeking employment for.

Section twenty-seven, article six, chapter twenty-nine is new; therefore, strike-throughs and underscoring have been omitted.
